Setting up Netscape Online Dial-Up Internet on your Windows
XP Computer
Note: These instructions apply to the Unlimited
Plan only. If you are a Netscape Online Accelerated Plan subscriber,
you need to install software on your computer that speeds up web
surfing up to 5x faster*. Visit the download
page to get the Netscape Online web acceleration software.
Windows XP gives you the option to view the Start menu and Control
Panel in default Category View or Classic
View. Both views are presented here for your reference.
1. You will use the Windows XP Connection Wizard to create or overwrite
a dial-up Internet connection. Click Start and
select Control Panel.

2. In Control Panel for the Classic View, click on Network
Connections.

The Classic view does not have an extra step here. Proceed
to step three. |

2. In Control Panel for the Category View, click on Network
and Internet Connections.

It will then open the following screen. Click on Network Connections.

3. For both, click Create a new connection to
set up a new Internet connection.
4. The New Connection Wizard appears. Click Next
to continue.

5. Select Connect to the Internet for your Internet
connection type. Click Next to continue.

6. Select the option Set up my connection manually.
Click Next to continue.

7. Select the option Connect using a dial-up modem.
Click Next to continue.

8. Type Netscape Online for your Internet connection.
Click Next to continue.
9. Enter the local access telephone number that your modem will
use to connect to the Internet. If your area uses ten-digit (with
area code) dialing, then include it here. Click Next
to continue.

10. The next screen provides you with the option of restricting
use of your Internet connection on this computer. Depending on your
circumstances, you may choose the option Anyone's Use. Click Next
to continue.

11. Enter your Username (username@netscape.ca). Be sure
to add the domain @netscape.ca at the end of the
username. Enter your password twice in each of the password boxes
provided. Be sure that your Caps Lock is disabled, as passwords
are case sensitive.
You may select from some other advanced options. We suggest ticking
the box next to Make this the default Internet connection if you
plan to use Netscape Online as your primary Internet provider. Click
Next to continue.
12. You have successfully created a new Internet connection in Windows
XP. You may want to create a desktop shortcut so that an icon will
be placed on your desktop for easy access. Click Finish
and you are ready to connect to the Internet.
