Setting up Netscape Online Dial-Up Internet on your Windows
2000 Computer
Note: These instructions apply to the Unlimited
Plan only. If you are a Netscape Online Accelerated Plan subscriber,
you need to install software on your computer that speeds up web
surfing up to 5x faster*. Visit the download
page to get the Netscape Online web acceleration software.
1. With Windows 2000, click Start, Settings,
then click Network and Dial-up Connections as pictured
below.

2. Double-click or choose the Make New Connection
option.

The following screen will appear. The Network Connection Wizard
will help you configure a new Internet connection, your email and
newsgroup settings. Click Next to begin the wizard.

3. Select the option Dial-up to the Internet from
the list of choices. Click Next to continue.
4. In the Internet Connection Wizard select the third option I
want to set up my Internet connection manually… Click
Next to continue.

5. Select Connect using my phone line. Click Next
to continue.
6. Select Create a new dial-up connection. If you
have not set up any other connections the Internet Wizard will skip
this next screen so you may not see it. Click Next
to continue.
7. Enter the local access telephone number you were provided when
you registered your Netscape Online account. This will be the number
your modem dials to connect to the Internet. We suggest that you
leave the area code field blank.
If you have local ten-digit (with area code) dialing in your area,
we suggest entering the entire ten digit number in the Telephone
number (leaving the area code box blank).
Depending on how your modem has been set up, you may want to leave
the Area code and dialing rules box blank. Click Next
to continue.

8. Enter the Username (username@netscape.ca) and password you were
provided when you set up your account with Netscape Online. Click
Next to continue.
9. Enter Netscape Online for the Connection name.
Click Next.
10. The next few screens will allow you to configure Outlook Express
as your email program. Click Yes to set up your
email account. Then click Next to continue. If
you don’t want to set up an email account or wish to set up
another email program. Click No.

11. Select the first option Create a new Internet mail account.
Click Next to continue. If you do NOT have an existing
account set up in Outlook Express, the Internet Wizard will skip
this screen.

12. On the next screen, enter your name or nickname in the Display
Name field. Click Next to continue.

13. Enter your full email address (username@netscape.ca) in the
E-mail address field. Click Next to continue.
14. The drop down menu should automatically be set to POP3 server.
Enter mail.netscape.ca in both the Incoming mail
server and Outgoing mail server fields. Click Next
to continue. Please note that you may have to further configure
Outlook Express for SMTP authentication when you first use that
program.
15. Your Account name may already be entered, if it isn’t
enter it as your username@netscape.ca. Then add your password. You
may want to check the box Remember password if
you don’t want to enter every time you send and receive email.
Do NOT check the box for Logon using Secure Password Authentication.
Click Next to continue.
16. Click Finish to complete the Internet Connection
Wizard. You are not able to connect to the Internet with your Netscape
Online account. To successfully get your email, you will need to
further configure Outlook Express.
