January 6, 2005 - Exciting New Accelerated Service Enhancements are Coming!

On January 13, 2005, Netscape will launch an enhanced dialer screen through its Netscape Accelerated Internet Service software.

What will my new dialer screen look like?

New Dialer Screen

Why has my dialer screen changed?

We are continually rolling out new enhancements to the Netscape Accelerated Internet Service. Our improved dialer screen provides you the option to quickly access some of the key member features of the Netscape service, as well as links to relevant Canadian news stories and content.

Do I have to download anything new?

No. These enhancements require no download or upgrade to the Netscape Accelerated Internet Service.

How does this affect my ability to browse the internet and check my email?

Netscape Internet Service is about choice. Your new dialer screen offers you the additional benefits of being able to quickly access some of the key member features of the Netscape service, as well as links to relative Canadian news stories and content.

We have rolled out these enhancements as a result of feedback from our members for quicker access to key resources. We recognize some of our members prefer to use their dialer software for connectivity only. If you would prefer not to use these new features, you can open your browser or email program as usual, without any negative impact.

Why can I only see these features when I am connected to the Internet?

The new dialer screen provides easy access to the latest news and other online content, all of which are frequently updated. Because these pages are online, you can only see them when you have an active Internet connection.

What additional computer resources do these new features require?

None. These services are bought to you via a mini-browser built right into the dialer software, so using the features of the dialer screen are the same as browsing in Netscape, Internet Explorer, or other browsers such as Firefox.

Can I customize my dialer screen?

The features on your new dialer screen provide easy access to information and services available on the Netscape portal and to our Netscape Accelerated Internet Service members. To ensure the content is timely and relevant, only the weather feature is currently customizable.

How do I get local weather information in the dialer screen?

The dialer screen reports current weather conditions for select regions across the country. To get information for your area, select the closest available city from the drop-down list on the left of your dialer screen. The city you choose will be remembered the next time you open the Netscape dialer.

Note: If the dialer does not remember your weather preference, please ensure that Internet Explorer is set to allow cookies:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. In the Tools menu, click Internet Options
  3. Click the Privacy tab and drag the slider down so that it is set to either "Medium" or "Medium High"
  4. Click OK

Who do I contact with questions about the dialer or any other part of my Netscape service?
