To access all of the Settings described here, click on the Settings button in the upper-left corner of the Netscape Online connection screen.
1. One-click Internet Access
When Netscape Online is not connected to the Internet, the Connect indicator shows a Globe with the caption "Connect". Just click on this globe icon to connect to the Internet. You can also set Netscape Online to dial automatically when it opens by selecting this option in the General Settings. When the connection to the Internet is successful the caption under the Globe icon changes to "Connected". To disconnect, click the Globe icon again.
2. Quick access to your Web browser and Email.
The Web and Mail buttons automatically detect and set themselves to launch your default browser and email programs. If they are not set, or if you want to change them, simply right-click on the button you want to change.
3. Quick Searching
The built-in search box lets you search the web directly from the Netscape Online connection screen. Simply enter the word or phrase you want to search for and click Go (or your Enter key). The search results will appear in your browser (which will open automatically). To search for an exact phrase surround it with quotes "like this". Otherwise your search will simply be for both words.
You can also use this box to enter the address of any web page and that page will open in your browser. If your entry begins with either www. or http:// then Netscape Online will know this is a web page and not a search. This feature will conveniently remember the last five sites you entered and show them to you for selection, or you may simply type in a new one.
4. Drag and Drop Application Bar
This area allows you to conveniently launch frequently-used applications or documents directly from the Netscape Online connection screen. To add a shortcut here simply drag-and-drop any file or shortcut to this area. You can also add shortcuts here (or edit existing ones) from the Program Settings screen.
Any shortcuts that you add to the Application Bar can also be set to automatically open when the Netscape Online connection screen is started, by setting them in the Quick Start screen.
