This chapter lists all of the windows, fields, and buttons that you use to modify Netscape Browser options. To open the main options window, select Tools>Options.

The Options windows consist of a number of different panels that you can access by clicking on the icons along the left-hand side of the window. The above figure demonstrates how clicking on the General icon displays the General options panel.
| Displays commonly-used options that you use, for example, to specify your home page (or pages), select your default fonts and colours, and define your preferred language for Netscape Browser to use when opening a site that displays in multiple languages. In addition, you use this panel to set Netscape Browser as your default browser, and to define your connections when accessing the internet. | |
| Displays options that that you use to control information that is stored on your computer while you are browsing, such as browsing and download history, cached web pages, cookies, passwords and form information, and so on. On this panel you can clear this information from your computer, and also define options for how Netscape Browser manages this information as you surf the web. | |
| Displays options that you use for tab features, including defining how Netscape Browser opens a new tab. | |
You use this panel to list individual web sites and specify the types of security and display options you want to set for those sites. You can define default options, as well as options for specific sites. In addition, you use the Site Controls panel to select the default rendering engine that you want Netscape Browser to use when displaying web pages. |

| Includes options for controlling how Netscape Browser saves and manages files that you download from the web. For example, you can specify the default folder where files should be located, and also the programs that Netscape Browser should use when opening specific types of files. | |
| This panel includes three tabs: one for entering your default personal information for use in web-based forms (including name and address details); one for managing passwords that you use for secure web sites; and one for managing a master password that you use for protecting data and accessing your site passwords. | |
| Includes numerous options that are less commonly used. This panel is organized into a series of categories relating to, among other things, accessibility, browsing, software updates, and security. |
