The Datacard and Passcard option includes three tabs that you use to manage secured personal information that Netscape Browser uses to autofill forms on the web and log into web sites. These tabs include:
Datacards |
A datacard refers to saved information (such as your name and address) that you can use to automatically fill out forms on a website. Information for a datacard may or may not be password-protected. Use this tab to enter your personal information (such as your name, address, and e-mail) for use in web forms. Depending on how you set your Datacard options, Netscape Browser can automatically update this information based on information that you enter in forms, and it can also use this information to automatically fill in forms for you. For more details, refer to Saving
and Auto-Filling Form Information. |
| Passcards | A passcard is a combination of a user name and password that you use to log on to a website. Use this tab to set password options and to manage passwords that Netscape Browser has previously saved. For more details on using Passcard Manager, refer to Managing Your Online Passwords |
| Master Password | Your master password is the password you use to protect your Datacard and Passcard information. Use this tab to access your master password. For details on managing your Master Password refer to Saving, Updating, or Resetting a Master Password. |
| In this section: |

You use this tab to enter or modify your personal information that Netscape Browser uses when auto-filling forms. Options on this window include the following:
| Datacards saved | This section lists the names of your saved datacards. The datacard shown in bold is your default datacard. Select a datacard from this list to view or update it in the tabs on the right-hand side of the window. |
| Sites never saved | This section lists the sites for which you have indicated you do not want to use datacard information (that is, when prompted by the message bar to use a datacard, you clicked Never for this site). To change this behaviour, select the site from the list and click the Remove button. |
| Add | Click this button to add a new datacard. |
| Remove | Click this button to remove the selected datacard from the list. |
| Datacard Name | The name of the datacard you are updating. |
| When I visit a site with forms: | Use this field to specify what Netscape Browser should do with the datacard when you visit a site that includes a form:
|
| Protect this Datacard using my Master Password | When you check this option, Netscape will prompt you to enter your Master Password before it will use the information for this datacard. You might want to use this option, for example, if the datacard includes sensitive information, or if there are other people who use this computer. |
| Set as the default Datacard | Click this button to set the selected datacard as your default. |
Includes fields for storing name, e-mail, and phone number information.
Use the address tab to enter your address information.
| Billing Address/ Shipping Address |
Shopping web sites typically request two addresses: one for billing information (that is, the address where the invoice should be mailed), and the shipping address (where the goods being ordered should be mailed). If your billing and shipping addresses are typically the same, fill in the billing address and leave the shipping address blank. Alternatively, you can enter different addresses on each tab. |
This tab is used to display extra form fields that you have saved with this datacard. This could be any information that might be included on a form that is not otherwise defined on the other datacard tabs. (For example, the response to a "secret question" such as "What is your mother's maiden name?" which many sites use to help verify your identify.)
You use this tab to enter or modify your preferences for using your datacards on web sites. For example, you can have Netscape Browser highlight the form fields and enable the fill and submit button on the browser message bar. Options on this tab include the following:

|
| Password protect this Passcard using my Master Password | When saving new passcards, by default select the option to protect the passcard with your master passcard. |
| Set as the default for this site | If you have more than one passcard for a web-site, clicking this button sets the currently selected passcard as the default for that site. (This button is disabled when there is only a single passcard for a site.) |
This tab is used to display extra form fields that you have saved with this passcard. This could be any information that might be included on a passcard that is not otherwise defined on the other passcard tabs.
Use these fields to enter a default user ID and password combination that Netscape Browser can use at sites for which you have not set a passcard (That is, if you access a password-protected site for which you do not have a passcard, Netscape Browser will use your default.) This feature is useful if you use the same username and password at many different sites.
Default Passcard Behaviour

| When I have a matching Passcard: | Use this field to set general preferences for how Netscape Browser automatically enters passcards when you visit protected sites. (You can override these settings for individual passcards.)
|
| Automatically save Passcard | Use this field to set general preferences for how Netscape Browser automatically saves passcards when you visit protected sites.
|
| Highlight fillable login fields | Select this checkbox to have Netscape highlight passcard fields when you visit a protected site. |
| Fill and Submit when pressing the toolbar button | Enable the fill and submit button on the browser message bar. |
| Prompt me to save the saved/updated Passcard as the Default if blank | If you do not have a default passcard set, Netscape will prompt you to save your new or edited passcard as the default. |
Default Passcard Protection

| Password protect new Passcards | When saving new passcards, by default select the option to protect the passcard with your master passcard. |
You use a master password to protect all of your sensitive data, including both datacards and passcard. When you have specified a master password, you can use this password to protect individual passcards and datacards.
On the Master Password tab you can:
| Set/Change Master Password | Click this button to set your master password for the first time, or update it once you have set it. When you click this button, the Set/Change Master password window displays. Note: After you create a master password, this button displays instead Change Master Password. |
| Reset Master Password | Use this button to reset your master password if you have forgotten it. Warning: When you use this button, Netscape erases all of passcard and datacard information! |
| Change Timeout Period | This button opens a window that you can use to specify what Netscape Browser should do with your master password after you have entered it. (This is to protect your data if you leave your computer unattended after having entered your master password.) For example, you can specify that you must enter the master password each time you want to modify your personal data, or, alternatively, you can set a time limit after which Netscape Browser will expire the password before forcing you to re-enter it. |
